The Milano International Film Festival kicks off in a few weeks… so I thought it might be interesting for people to see this interview, where the programmer discusses the selection for their section of “Roma” or “Gypsy” related films.

Four Films You Should Watch

So, I’ve been back from the Palic International Film Festival for a few days now and I’ve had time to think about the experience.

The truth is I’ve come back from this festivals with a couple of things, firstly a gratitude that I’m a European Filmmaker and not trying to work as an independent in the US; secondly, I’ve discovered just how important it is to actually get out there and attend festivals.

The film scene in Europe really revolves around festivals. This is because there is a much greater diversity of filmmaking in Europe than there is in either the US or the UK. In very real terms, the European film scene is much more related to the idea of filmmaking as art, than it is just as a business. Read more

Off To Palic

In four hours I’m heading to Bergamo airport, hopping a flight to Budapest and then being driven over the Serbian border to attend the Palic International Film Festival. Huzzah!

What this means is there may not be any new posts until the beginning of next week… but, if I can get Wi-Fi and I don’t spend all my time sitting in the hot springs or watching great Balkan films or chatting to the cream of the Eastern European Film scene, then I might just upload some interviews.
